Our Products
Are your candles handmade?
Yes, every Solace & Smoke candle is hand-poured in small batches in Victoria. Each Jesmonite vessel is also handcrafted, sanded, sealed, and finished by hand, making every piece truly unique.
What are your candles made from?
Our candles use a premium natural wax blend, high-quality fragrance oils, and FSC-certified wooden wicks. All vessels are created using Jesmonite (AC100 or AC730) for a durable, stone-like finish.
Why do Jesmonite vessels vary slightly in colour or texture?
Because each vessel is handmade, natural variations in tone, texture, and marbling are expected. These variations are part of the Solace & Smoke charm — no two pieces are ever identical.
Are the vessels reusable?
Absolutely. Once your candle has finished burning, clean out the remaining wax and enjoy your vessel as a decor piece — think trinket holder, desk organiser, plant pot, or anything you imagine.
Candle Care
How long will my candle burn?
Burn time varies by vessel size, but most Solace & Smoke candles burn between 25–40 hours. Exact burn time is listed on each product page.
Why is my wooden wick crackling or not staying lit?
Wooden wicks may need a little trimming before each burn. Keep the wick around 3–5mm and remove any charred wood. This helps it burn evenly and cleanly.
Why is there slight frosting or texture on my candle?
This is a natural characteristic of quality soy-based waxes and does not affect performance or scent.
How do I get the best burn from my candle?
- Always burn for 2–3 hours on the first light
- Trim your wick between burns
- Avoid burning for more than 4 hours at a time
- Keep candles away from drafts
Shipping
Where do you ship?
We currently ship Australia-wide. International shipping will be added soon.
How long will my order take to ship?
Because each product is handcrafted, please allow 3–7 business days for your order to be prepared before shipping. During peak periods (holidays, launches, markets), this may extend slightly.
How much is shipping?
Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your location and order size. Free shipping is available for orders over $150
How can I track my order?
Once your order has been packed, you’ll receive a tracking link via email.
Returns & Refunds
Do you accept returns?
Due to the handcrafted nature of our products, we cannot accept returns for change of mind.
However, if your item arrives damaged or faulty, please contact us within 48 hours with photos so we can make it right.
What if my candle arrives broken?
We’re so sorry! Please email founder@solaceandsmoke.com with your order number and clear photos, and we’ll send a replacement.
Jesmonite Information
Is Jesmonite waterproof?
All vessels are sealed to be water-resistant, but they should not be submerged. Gently wipe clean with a damp cloth only.
Will my Jesmonite vessel stain?
Jesmonite is porous by nature, so wiping spills quickly will help maintain its finish. Dark oils or liquids may mark the surface if left sitting.

Do you make everything yourself?
Yes — every vessel, candle, tray, lid, and accessory is crafted by hand in our home studio. We don’t outsource or mass-produce.
Can I buy your products in person?
Yes! You can shop Solace & Smoke at select markets across Victoria. Upcoming markets are listed on our website and Instagram.
